Instructions
3D print the One True Flag Spearhead by 1Enkyo using Filament of choice (we recommend Sunlu - we used PLA for this project). If not able to print in one piece, split the threaded base horizontally and print in two sections vertically; assemble with plastic welding or adhesive of choice (recommend plastic welding - set to 220-250 degrees F)
Prepare the 3D print by dry sanding the surface up to 320-400 grit. Use Bondo Spot & Glazing Putty to fill any seams, holes, or major layer lines. Wet Sand your Bondo application.
With the spray booth or outside (ventilated space), spray paint Rustoleum grey filler primer - wet sand up to 400 grit once dry. Repeat as needed.
Recommend spray painting with Rustoleum black sandable primer - this allows you to see additional imperfections in the 3D print. Wet sand up to 400 grit once dry. Repeat as needed.
When ready, spray paint Rustoleum gold onto the spearhead. This should only take 1 or 2 passes.
Paint the 2-section pole with the Rustoleum granite - this will take time to cure, be patient! Repeat as needed. Once complete, clear coat with Rustoleum satin enamel.
Mask off the pole, leaving the bottom handle exposed. Paint this with Rustoleum gold.
Cut a small section of 2mm EVA foam, approximately 9" in length, and cut to circumference of the pole. Do this by wrapping the pole with the section, marking the overlaps and trimming back. Spray this section with 3M Super 77 spray glue and apply the section to the middle of your 2-section pole, positioned with one edge flush to the middle cap on the fixed portion of the pole.
Attach the Spearhead with hot glue - use this as a gap filling and bonding material. This can be achieve by filling spearhead threaded hole with hot glue and placing onto threaded cap of pole.
Install flag rings to upper section - be mindful of scraping when installing. Adjust set screw as needed to install and affix rings.
Attach flag using included carabiner clips.
